Jaime CastroSantoro

I am Jaime Castro Santoro, a Chilean painter artist based in London, United Kingdom. I received my academic training at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Chile, where I studied Painting, Drawing, Printmaking and Sculpture. I specialized in Painting and Drawing.

For twenty years I worked as a freelance Illustrator and Animation Artist. The demanding level required to work in Illustration and animation helped me achieve precise drawing and naturalistic color that have been fundamental in my paintings and drawings.

For 32 years I have dedicated myself exclusively to Painting and drawing professionally. From the beginning my painting was realistic, very luminous urban and natural landscapes and imaginative and creative human figures. I painted outdoors and in the studio objective works in oil, acrylic and watercolor on canvas and paper, doing it with pleasure and exclusive dedication.

But an unexpected encounter with fantasy changed the course of my work and led me to an equally figurative but at the same time magical and subjective path that fascinates and absorbs me completely and is my unmistakable personal handwriting.

I have a long history of individual and collective exhibitions in my country Chile and in the United States, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

In 1997, during a fruitful six-month stay in San Francisco, U.S.A., when presenting my works in the numerous high-level Art Galleries of that city, I received very good comments which confirmed that my style was on a very good professional path. The Yountchie Rieger gallery represented me exclusively throughout California for several years.

The prices of my works depend on their complexity and the time I spend creating them. On average they range between 1800 and 3800 British Pounds tax-free.
